Q: How long will it take to resolve my legal issue?
A: That depends on the size and nature of your case. Some cases can be settled within a few weeks or months. Other cases can take longer depending on the facts and nature of the case. For instance, if you are continuing to treat for your injuries, you may need to wait until you are fully healed or medically stationary before your real damages can be evaluated and your case resolved. Also, if the defendant is disputing liability or the amount of money requested and we must file a lawsuit, it will take additional time to get to trial. Most cases in Multnomah County take about 12-14 months to go to trial. While this seems like a long time, this is one of the fastest court dockets in the country. Keep in mind however, that most cases that have merit will settle prior to the trial date.
